A seamless check-in experience, reliable access control, and fully integrated hardware and software are essential to modern visitor management. To deliver these capabilities as one complete solution, friendlyway and Evolis officially launched a global partnership at SecurityExpo 2026 on July 1.
friendlyway Managing Director Anton Dechko and Evolis Sales Executive Typhaine Bruneau marked the start of the collaboration at the friendlyway booth.
What does this partnership mean for organizations in practice? Here is how the combination of friendlyway self-service kiosks and Evolis card printers addresses real-world visitor management and security requirements.

Key Benefits of the friendlyway–Evolis Partnership
By integrating Evolis printing and encoding modules directly into friendlyway kiosks, organizations gain several practical advantages:
- Faster, more professional check-in: Personalized visitor badges showing details such as the visitor’s name, company, and authorized visit time are printed automatically during check-in.
- Stronger access control: RFID credentials based on technologies such as LEGIC and MIFARE are securely encoded and connected to the organization’s existing building access system.
- Fewer losses and security risks: Automated card collection during check-out helps prevent costly RFID cards from being lost or taken off-site while protecting restricted areas.
- Lower costs and less waste: Rewritable cards can be used multiple times without consumables such as printer ribbons, reducing both operating expenses and environmental impact.

Two Customer Examples: friendlyway and Evolis in Practice
The following projects demonstrate how the integrated solution can accommodate different facilities, visitor groups, and security requirements.
SycoTec GmbH & Co. KG: Autonomous check-in integrated with the existing access control system
SycoTec wanted to reduce the workload at its reception desk by introducing a fully autonomous check-in process. However, the existing entrance already featured a turnstile equipped with Dormakaba technology, which visitors could pass only if they had an RFID credential.
The company therefore needed a solution that could automatically check visitors in and issue a compatible access credential — without replacing the existing reception counter, turnstile, or access control hardware.
The friendlyway and Evolis solution
- Compact hardware for the existing front desk: SycoTec selected the compact friendlyway Counter 12 together with an Evolis Zenius 2 card printer. Both devices fit easily on the existing reception counter.
- Fast self-service check-in: Visitors check in independently by scanning a QR code or entering a PIN on the Counter 12.
- Two functions in one step: The Evolis Zenius 2 prints a personalized visitor badge while reading the card’s integrated LEGIC RFID chip and assigning it to the visitor.
- Seamless access control integration: Visitors receive a single card that serves as both an identification badge and an access credential. Because it is compatible with the existing Dormakaba reader at the turnstile, SycoTec did not need to replace its access infrastructure.
The result
A fully digital reception process reduces administrative work while preserving the company’s existing building and access control systems.

GEWO Feinmechanik GmbH & Co. KG: Automated check-in for multiple visitor types with reusable RFID cards
GEWO Feinmechanik wanted to digitalize check-in for several groups, including contractors, day visitors, trial workers, and interns. Each group required specific access permissions through the company’s Salto system, tailored safety instructions, and temporary guest Wi-Fi access via the Cisco ISE portal.
The friendlyway and Evolis solution
- Integrated all-in-one kiosk: The friendlyway Welcome 43 Pro features a built-in Evolis KC Prime Duplex 200C Bezel module. It handles card scanning, printing, encoding, issuance, and collection within a single unit.
- Rewritable visitor cards: Evolis rewritable cards are printed in monochrome using thermal technology without solvents or printer ribbons. At check-out, heat erases the information so each card can be reused.
- A fully automated workflow: The system encodes the card’s MIFARE DESFire chip for the Salto access control system, assigns guest Wi-Fi access, and presents the appropriate safety instructions for each visitor type. When leaving, visitors simply return the card through the kiosk, which collects it and completes the check-out automatically.
The result
A completely autonomous check-in and check-out process reduces pressure on staff while supporting the sustainable reuse of access cards.

Why Invest in an Integrated friendlyway–Evolis Solution?
When kiosks, visitor management software, and card printers work together seamlessly, organizations save time and avoid costly integration issues. The partnership offers three additional advantages:
- No need to replace existing access infrastructure: As the SycoTec project shows, Evolis printers can integrate with established access control systems and turnstiles from providers such as Dormakaba and Salto.
- Hardware for different reception environments: Organizations can choose a configuration that fits their location — from a compact desktop kiosk such as the Counter 12 to a modular freestanding kiosk such as the Welcome 43 Pro.
- Lower environmental impact and operating costs: Rewritable cards reduce waste and significantly lower ongoing spending on cards, ribbons, and other printing supplies.
